Leadership is absent
After the tragic death of a patient at Lions Gate Hospital, Health Minister Adrian Dix concluded they had received “significant care” and the most sympathetic adjective he used to describe the event was “awful.”
He deflected any responsibility by stating “this was one of the busiest weekends” and “patient volumes are high,” which is sheer negligence. Furthermore, his audacity to question whether the care provided “was adequate” is deplorable.
Our defective health-care system stems from absent government leadership. The NDP gloats over contracts, hirings and UPCCS (urgent and primary care centres), but they are shameless political plugs that ignore the current insufficiencies.
Mr. Dix, stop the political gamesmanship. Physicians are growing tired of your antics and apathetic remarks. How many disgruntled physicians, suffering patients and preventable deaths are needed before substantial changes are made? Fix our system now or find someone who will.
