NOW THAT'S JUST BANANAS

This Guinness World Record is bananas, in every way possible. Produce company Fresh Del Monte and the grocery chain Jewel- Osco have built the world's largest fruit display — using 211,200 Del Monte bananas. The spread was 36 metres wide and three metres high, and weighed 35,092 kilograms.

Located at a Jewel- Osco store in Westmont, Ill., the display took more than three days to set up and was finished on June 8, Food & Wine reports. After a Guinness World Records judge verified the achievement on site, the store gave bananas to customers and donated the rest to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The previous record was set in January, when Rouses Markets and Sunkist Growers used more than 100,000 oranges, mandarins, lemons, grapefruits and tangelos to create a 18,149 kg display in Metairie, La., reports UPI.
